A box at the Italian Opera: (1852)

Description

Abstract:
The seated women wear dresses that are fairly sumptuous and expose the shoulders. They both wear shawl berthas wrapped around their shoulders and their hair is decorated with ribbons, feathers and lace. The standing man wears a black coat with a white tie, codified as appropriate evening dress during this period. The woman standing wears a fur-lined cloak and fashionable wavy hair.
