Abstract
Founded in 1882 by Franklin H. Gruber, the Gruber Wagon Works is one of the most complete examples of an integrated rural manufactory of its kind in the U.S. During its span of operation, the Wagon Works evolved from a single craftsman shop using specialized hand tools into a business with as many as 20 employees utilizing mass-production methods.
