Abstract (lang="eng")
On the occasion of the centenary of the first issue of the magazine Athena, this special issue of Pessoa Plural offers a diverse and original revisiting of the magazine created by Fernando Pessoa in collaboration with Ruy Vaz. To interpret a publication revealed a hundred years ago, it is essential to explore the specific context in which Athena emerged. Above all, we are interested in the dialogue between Athena and Orpheu—Pessoa's first major magazine—as well as the national and international landscape in which it is situated. Athena represents a complex reflection on an era of great transformations, aligning or contrasting with other emerging cultural projects in early 20th-century Europe. This dossier explores the connec¬tions, continuities, and differences between the times of Orpheu and Athena, situating the lat¬ter as a unique and essential cultural object in Pessoa’s bibliography.
