Burnout in Healthcare is Stratified by Position Title and Responsibility

Abstract:
Due to the deeply personal and exhaustive nature of medicine, burnout strongly affects healthcare providers, causing a range of psychological symptoms. Burnout is of particular importance in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which exacerbated and highlighted the underlying issues of the healthcare system in the U.S. CCAP, a federally qualified health center in Rhode Island, experienced an exhaustion of resources- both material and employee during the pandemic. This project aimed to assess burnout rates at CCAP and stratify different subtypes of burnout between healthcare team members by role.
