- This paper questions how Guimarães Rosa would have read Euclides da Cunha's ‘Os sertões’, based on reading marks found in the copy he kept in his personal library. Such marks could provide suitable evidence for the hypothesis of ‘Grande sertão: veredas’ being an "active forgetful" re-writing of Euclides' work. The reading marks in Rosa's copy of ‘Os sertões’ receive a diplomatic transcription in Appendix, in order to enable other researchers to produce their own hypotheses.

- Este artigo questiona como Guimarães Rosa teria lido "Os sertões" de Euclides da Cunha, baseando-se em marcas de leitura encontradas na cópia que Rosa mantinha em sua biblioteca pessoal. Tais marcas podem fornecer evidência adequada para a hipótese de "Grande sertão: veredas" ser uma re-escrita de "esquecimento ativo" do trabalho de Euclides. As marcas de leitura na cópia de Rosa de "Os sertões" recebem uma transcrição diplomática no Apêndice, a fim de permitir que outros pesquisadores produzam suas próprias hipóteses.
