It is plain that the new international ratio to be adopted will differ from some of the now existing ratios, and that in some of the countries recoinage will be necessary. Authorities believe it to be the most natural and practical thing to adopt as the permanent international ratio that now existing in British India, established by England, namely 1 to 15, one ounce of pure gold equal to fifteen ounces of pure silver. The United States would,by this arrangement, return to her old ratio of 1 to 15 that existed in 1793. A consideration of the foregoing tacts suggests the great importance of this conference. It will be composed of the most eminent political economists of all the countries represented, and wll no doubt have the effect of simplifying the hitherto complicated question of monetary standards. Reeves and his famous American Band will return from the Portland Exposition next Saturday, and give a grand concert in Music Hall on Sunday evening. Oct. 30.
