President Donald F. Hornig explained at the faculty meeting yesterday that the university faced a life or death situation in the next five years and that this necessitated faculty cuts.:
Edward F. Greene, chairman of the FPG, presented a motion calling for inclusion of the faculty in university planning. The motion will probably be voted on at Tuesday's meeting.:

A group of 1,0 women accepted the invitation of Dean Jacquelyn Mattfeld to gather at her home last night. Aspects of the new curriculum dominated discussion; listening to the complaints of administrative and faculty noncommitment, Dean Mattfeld admitted a probability that some administrators "unconsciously sabotage those points [of the new curriculum] which could be assisted greatly by the administrative machinery." General discussion continued for two hours, revealing the difficulties of many students in making contact with deans, finding academic counsel, particularly in the area of planning concentrations, and making use of evaluation forms in application to graduate schools.:
