- Based on testimonies and works by writer Joel Rufino dos Santos, member of the Higher Institute of Brazilian Studies (ISEB), the article tells how the collective project 'História Nova' was developed, conceived for high school teachers in the 1960s and its repression by the civic-military dictatorship of 1964, examining in detail the part on the abolition of slavery and its affiliation with Marxist theses.

- Partindo de depoimentos e obras do escritor Joel Rufino dos Santos, integrante do Instituto Superior de Estudos Brasileiros (ISEB), o artigo narra como se desenvolveu o projeto coletivo 'História Nova', concebido para professores de Ensino Médio na década de 1960 e sua repressão pela ditadura cívico-militar de 1964, examinando em detalhe a parte sobre a abolição da escravatura e sua filiação a teses marxistas.
