The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government launched the National
Food For Work Programme (NFFWP) in November last year with much
fanfare. The NFFWP is intended to “generate additional supplementary
wage employment and to create productive assets” in 150 of the most
backward districts of the country.</mods:abstract>
