- Abstract
(lang="eng")
- The purpose of this contribution is to reflect on the classicism of the magazine Athena, in two main areas: the aesthetic and formal characteristics of the contributions published there by the heteronyms Ricardo Reis and Alberto Caeiro, and the poetics and conception of art that the magazine aims to convey, already expressed in the opening note written by Fernando Pessoa and published in the first issue of the magazine in 1924. In reflecting on the classicist spirit of the magazine, the article seeks to situate this Pessoan project within the broader con¬text of the concept of arrière-garde, in contrast to the avant-garde spirit of the preceding magazine, Orpheu.
