- This paper analyzes the negative and affirmative representations of dreams in the relation¬ship between the subject and the world in The Book of Disquiet. Drawing upon Nietzsche's philosophy, negativity manifests itself in two ways: the pagan dream embodies Nietzschean nihilism through its depreciation of traditional values, particularly Christianity; while the dream as a refuge for the soul resists the boredom and pain of reality through the aesthetic and creative processes of the Apollonian, expressed in three main variations: the city, the forest, and literature. On the other hand, just as Nietzsche denies in order to affirm life in its highest intensity, Pessoa’s dream transcends mere negation and leads to the full affirmation of the self and the world, thus fulfilling Nietzsche’s metaphorical evolution of camel-lion-child.
- O presente trabalho analisa as representações negativas e afirmativas dos sonhos na relação entre o sujeito e o mundo no Livro do Desassossego. À luz da filosofia de Nietzsche, a negati¬vidade manifesta-se em dois aspectos: o sonho pagão concretiza o niilismo nietzschiano atra¬vés da sua depreciação dos valores tradicionais, especialmente do cristianismo; já o sonho como refúgio da alma opõe-se ao tédio e à dor da realidade por meio dos procedimentos estéticos e criativos do apolíneo, expressos em três variações principais: a cidade, a floresta e a literatura. Por outro lado, tal como Nietzsche nega para afirmar a vida na sua máxima in¬tensidade, o sonho pessoano transcende a simples negação e conduz à afirmação plena do eu e do mundo, concretizando assim a evolução metafórica nietzschiana de camelo-leão-criança.
