- Abstract
- While many studies have revealed the importance of the eddy subduction pump (ESP) to the carbon cycle, the link between ESP anomalies and Antarctic Winter Water remains unconstrained. Using data collected by Biogeochemical-Argo floats across the Southern Ocean, we analyzed the geographic and physical relationships between ESP anomalies and Winter Water. These results reveal the importance of Antarctic Winter Water to the global carbon cycle.
