Individuals with mental illness and addiction are disproportionately represented in the criminal legal system and are more likely to interact with police and face arrest compared to the general population. This issue is further exacerbated for unhoused individuals, who face additional barriers to accessing healthcare and support services. In Rhode Island, approximately 4,000 individuals experience homelessness each year. Recognizing the need for targeted healthcare interventions for this vulnerable population, House of Hope, a local nonprofit organization, partnered with a newly-formed Street Medicine Program. This initiative provides health and social services directly to unhoused individuals in their own environment, aiming to overcome access barriers and improve health outcomes.</mods:abstract><mods:name><mods:namePart>Stewart, Kayla</mods:namePart><mods:role><mods:roleTerm authority="marcrelator" authorityURI="http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators" valueURI="http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut">Author</mods:roleTerm></mods:role></mods:name><mods:name><mods:namePart>Smith, Megan</mods:namePart><mods:role><mods:roleTerm authority="marcrelator" authorityURI="http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators" valueURI="http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut">Author</mods:roleTerm></mods:role></mods:name><mods:name><mods:namePart>Saal, Andrew</mods:namePart><mods:role><mods:roleTerm authority="marcrelator" authorityURI="http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators" valueURI="http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut">Author</mods:roleTerm></mods:role></mods:name><mods:originInfo><mods:dateCreated>2024</mods:dateCreated></mods:originInfo><mods:subject authority="local"><mods:topic>behavioral health</mods:topic></mods:subject><mods:subject authority="local"><mods:topic>healthcare access</mods:topic></mods:subject><mods:subject authority="local"><mods:topic>Housing Insecurity</mods:topic></mods:subject><mods:subject authority="local"><mods:topic>criminal justice involvement</mods:topic></mods:subject><mods:genre>posters</mods:genre><mods:accessCondition type="use and reproduction">All rights reserved</mods:accessCondition><mods:accessCondition type="rights statement" xlink:href="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/">In Copyright</mods:accessCondition><mods:accessCondition type="restriction on access">All Rights Reserved</mods:accessCondition><mods:identifier type="doi">10.26300/32hz-ww91</mods:identifier></mods:mods>
