- The history of Portugal officially begins when Afonso Henriques becomes the first king after defeating his own mother in the Battle of São Mamede, around the same time that Paio Soares de Taveirós composed the Song of Garvaia. Thus, Nation and Literature are born together! The history of this Empire has been rewritten many times, from its first king to Inês de Castro, crowned queen only after her death; through the conquest of the seas; to D. Sebastião, the young king who vanished in the desert and remained forever awaited in the imagination of his people. Fernando Pessoa reaffirms this literary rewriting of history when his verses plead to the Infante: “Lord, Portugal remains to be fulfilled!” The country remained under dicta¬torship for over 40 years in the 20th century, led by António de Oliveira Salazar. This paper aims to reflect on the presence of Pessoa and post-April 25 authors in Portuguese literature of the 20th and 21st centuries.

- A história de Portugal nasce oficialmente quando Afonso Henriques se torna o primeiro rei, depois de vencer a guerra contra sua própria mãe na Batalha de São Mamede, quase ao mesmo tempo em que Paio Soares de Taveirós compunha a Canção da Garvaia. Assim, Nação e Literatura nascem juntas. A história desse Império foi recontada muitas vezes, desde o seu primeiro rei até Inês de Castro, feita rainha depois de morta; passando pela conquista dos mares, por D. Sebastião, o jovem rei desaparecido no deserto e eternamente esperado no ima¬ginário do seu povo. Fernando Pessoa reafirma essa reescrita da história feita pela literatura portuguesa quando seus versos imploram ao Infante: “Senhor, falta cumprir-se Portugal!”. O país permaneceu sob ditadura por mais de 40 anos no século XX, comandado por António de Oliveira Salazar. Este texto tem por objetivo refletir sobre a presença de Pessoa e dos au¬tores pós-25 de Abril na literatura portuguesa dos séculos XX e XXI.
