- In this article, João Antonio´s journey to Cuba is reconstituted according to his correspondence (letters to Fábio Lucas, Mylton Severiano and José Ramón Rodrigues Neyra), as well as books and papers found in his archives and out of them. His account of the travel was given to the newspaper 'Letras e Artes.' There, Antonio preserves the impressions caused by the trip and positions himself as a critic of Cuban culture. Under the assumption that past might leave traces behind it, a link between the trip to Cuba and the symbolic journey to Spanish-speaking countries is extended through the translation of his short stories.

- A viagem de João Antônio a Cuba é aqui reconstituída por meio de sua correspondência (com Fábio Lucas, Mylton Severiano e José Ramón Rodrigues Neyra), de livros do escritor, de papéis do arquivo pessoal e de documentos fora do arquivo. A descrição da viagem é feita a partir de notações encontradas em cartas e notícias jornalísticas, sobretudo no depoimento concedido ao jornal 'Letras e Artes', em que o ficcionista preserva impressões de viagem e posiciona-se como crítico da cultura cubana. Por meio desta leitura, sob o pressuposto de que o passado deixou um rastro, estende-se uma ligação entre a viagem a Cuba e a viagem simbólica a países de língua espanhola, através da tradução de seus contos.
