Abstract (lang="eng")
The poems transcribed by Laerte Coutinho, or simply Laerte, in the speech bubbles containing the Poet’s lines in the series Piratas do Tietê, do not seem to be the result of a casual choice, falling upon the work of the enigmatic heteronym Álvaro de Campos, whose work contains passages of a homoerotic nature. For this reason and others, Campos perhaps is the Pessoa figure most closely capable of translating the “drama in people” experienced by the comic book author (Laerte, at that time still a male writer). Moreover, the new Laerte, belatedly exposed to various challenges after renouncing the Piratas do Tietê and removing the mask from her face, would certainly identify with another poet from the Orpheu magazine troupe: Fernando Pessoa’s friend, Mário de Sá-Carneiro, author of the novella A confissão de Lúcio, in which undeniable echoes of Oscar Wilde’s Ballad of Reading Gaol resonate.
