- Pedro Nava and Erico Verissimo were writers and contemporaries, identified by critics as modernists and / or realists, who bring, not only in their memories, but in their writings, the personal mark of their experiences. This study pretends to identify how the two great writers of Brazilian literature portrayed Brazilian public health issues, more specifically, from epidemics and pandemics, in the narratives ‘O Tempo e o Vento’ and ‘Chão de Ferro,’ as well as how they contribute to the interpretation of the current global pandemic in 2020, identified by COVID-19. The choice of texts appears to be disparate, where the first deals with a historical novel and the second with a memorialistic narrative, but what is intended is to explain exactly how the author's testimony, both fictional and, supposedly, reminiscent, also present the public health themes addressed in the novels.

- Pedro Nava e Erico Verissimo foram escritores e contemporâneos, identificados pela crítica como modernistas e/ou realistas, que trazem, não só em suas memórias, mas em seus escritos, a marca pessoal de suas experiências. Este estudo busca identificar como retrataram os dois grandes escritores da literatura brasileira as questões de saúde pública, mais propriamente, de suas epidemias e pandemias, a partir das narrativas ‘O Tempo e o Vento’ e ‘Chão de Ferro’, assim como de que forma as mesmas contribuem para a interpretação da atualidade pandêmica mundial em 2020, identificada por COVID-19. A escolha dos textos apresenta-se aparentemente díspar, uma vez que o primeiro trata de romance histórico e o segundo, de narrativa memorialística, mas o que se pretende é exatamente explicitar a forma como o testemunho autoral, tanto ficcional, quanto de reminiscências, apresenta metodicamente as temáticas de saúde pública abordadas nas obras.
