A Periodic Slow-Wave Microstrip Structure for High-Resolution Microwave Sensing Applications
Type of Resource (primo)

Abstract
A periodic microstrip transmission line is presented, which maximizes phase delay through slow-wave propagation in a periodic structure for use in various sensing applications. The dispersion and phase-delay characteristics of both struc- tures are analyzed and compared analytically and through full- wave electromagnetic simulations in HFSS at 1GHz. Prototypes are fabricated and experimentally characterized, and measured results show close agreement with simulation and demonstrate improved sensitivity.
