- Abstract
- Bruce & Sam is an original animated show I created that follows two stray dogs, Bruce and Sam, as they scurry across town in search of food, fun, and adventure. For my senior honors thesis, I was excited to complete a fully original soundtrack for Bruce & Sam’s second season. While season 1 held a zany cartoon feel, I wanted to go in a more serious direction with season 2. In order to achieve this, I knew the soundtrack was going to have to be even more versatile than before. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, starting with writing music for an 8-piece choir as the opening cue. I’m grateful for the weekly advising meetings I had with Christina Stepin, Linus Lawerence, and Professor Eric Nathan, and their advice allowed me to refine the music that I envisioned. I ended up recruiting and recording almost 20 musicians, all friends that I’ve met or performed with during my four years at Brown. The result was an extensive soundtrack featuring singers, string players, horn players, and even hard-rock guitar.
