- Abstract
(lang="eng")
- This paper examines three lesser-known cases of fictional authorial figures in Fernando Pes¬soa’s archive: the “English Detective”, D. Miguel Roupinho, and Carlos Goes (or Góis). Draw¬ing on unpublished or understudied materials—identified and analyzed with reference to archival documents and personal communications with José Barreto and other scholars—the study proposes the inclusion (or, in the case of the Detective, the reappraisal) of these entities within Pessoa’s expanded list of fictional authors. It argues that the 2013 list presented in Eu sou uma antologia is far from definitive and that Pessoa’s archive continues to reveal a fluid and experimental authorship practice. The paper suggests that the archive should be ap¬proached as a “laboratory of futures”, challenging rigid classifications and inviting renewed attention to textual and identity multiplicity in Pessoa’s work.
