Between May of 1927 and March of 1931, the Brazilian writer Monteiro Lobato (1882-1948) lived in the United States, where he functioned as a commercial attaché of the Brazilian consulate in New York. This text focuses on Lobato's relations to the city, manifested in letters, books, New York Times articles, consulate documents and personal correspondence.

Entre maio de 1927 e março de 1931 o escritor brasileiro Monteiro Lobato (1882-1948) viveu nos Estados Unidos, onde desempenhava a função de Adido Comercial do Consulado Brasileiro em Nova York. O texto focaliza relações de Lobato com a cidade, manifestadas em cartas, livros, artigos do ‘New York Times’, documentos consulares e correspondência lobatiana.
