<mods:abstract>This document is a copy of writ petition filed by People's Union for Civil Liberties Vs. Union of India &amp; Others. Upon hearing the counsel the Supreme Court ordered that the poor, destitute and the weaker sections of the society do not suffer from hunger and starvation. The order continued that prevention of the same is one of the prime responsibilities of the government -whether Central or the State and ensuring this is a matter of policy which should be best left to the Government.</mods:abstract>
