APMA0110: What’s the Big Deal with Data Science?
This collection highlights student projects created in the course APMA0110:What's the Big Deal with Data Science? The seminar, taught by Dr. Katharine M. Kinnaird (2016-2018), serves as a practical introduction to the interdisciplinary field of data science and exposes students to the diversity of questions that data science can address, discussions of the ethics and practices for collecting and managing data, and explorations of “big data” and differences among other kinds of data. Students conduct hands-on labs using computational and visualization techniques for uncovering meaning from large numerical and text-based data sets.
