Palestine: traveling in the Holy Land through the stereoscope

Offered as an accompaniment to Jesse Lyman Hurlbut’s 1900 text “Traveling in the Holy Land through the Stereoscope”, the stereoscopic images collected here present Palestine just at the turn of the Twentieth-century. The images focus particularly on ancient ruins related to theological texts, various landscapes, and also daily life among Palestinians of that time. Each record contains scans of the original cards as well as composite stereoscopic views (anaglyphs).
