The Opening the Archives Dominican Republic Project makes U.S. government documents available about the Dominican Republic during the Cold War years of the 1960s and 1970s. Student researchers, under the leadership of Professor James N. Green and René Cordero, have scanned and indexed thousands of records from archives, including the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library and the National Archives II in College Park, Maryland to make them available to the public. The project is also designed to encourage Dominicans to have fuller access to information of the history of their country and its relationship to the United States.
