PEPFAR and the US Global Health Initiative: Implications for the Global AIDS Response

Description

Abstract:
An interview with Jennifer Kates, vice president and director of Global Health and HIV Policy in the U.S., is presented. She diffirentiates the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and Global Health Initiative (GHI). She explains that PEPFAR is a significant scaling up of global AIDS response giving new funding and new authority in law, while GHI is one which didn't come necessarily with new funding or new authority and was instead more of a new way of doing business.
