- An interview with Tufts University professor Vali Nasr is presented. He says Iran has a particular political system that does not fit into the category people are familiar with in the Middle East. He adds that the state has a leader who is unelected and not accountable. When asked about the underlying factors holding the political system together, he says the state has a large footprint on society and intrudes into all aspects of an individual's life. He explains that the supreme leader is supreme since most of the levers of power rest with him.
