- The article focuses on the World Bank's study of corruption. The author mentions that the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) had long faced and addressed issues concerning corruption. He states that a number of studies examining the impact of corruption on economic growth and investment started appearing in scholarly journals in the mid-1990s. He notes that a much wider effort has since been made by researchers to examine these issues in an organized manner.
