Words are Savage Birds: The Violent and Liberatory Potential in the Works of Nina Bouraoui, in Conversation with Assia Djebar

Description

Abstract:
This thesis investigates contemporary queer identity in the Maghreb and in Maghrebi diaspora in France through the works of Nina Bouraoui. It forges a queer feminist lens by putting Bouraoui's works in conversation with older feminist writer Assia Djebar and by considering her life and identities in the context of organizing by lesbian of color organization, the Groupe du 6 novembre.
