Camp Forrest, TN, 1944: Courts Martial Manuel

Abstract:
Original ink and crayon caricature, signed and dated by artist; uniformed camp director (?), smiling, holding valentine in one hand and "Courts Martial Manuel" in the other behind his back, red valentine-hearts floating at left.
Notes:
Morton joined the army in July 1942 and after training at Fort Meade, sailed for England in March 1944 as a technician with the 603rd Engineer Camouflage Battalion. He served in Europe with the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops (the so-called 'Ghost Army') in France, Germany, and Luxembourg. Gift of the artist, 1994.
