Description

Abstract:
This dissertation describes four associated musical compositions and represents an effort to advance electroacoustic musical compositional practices by examining and innovating two key technologies: listening and compositional reflection. The works described herein combine ideas from soundscape composition and live electroacoustic improvisation and use field recordings made by the composer in Luanda and Huambo, Angola.
