Battle, Paul

Description

Abstract:
Broad background in movement activism (civil rights, anti-war, black nationalism) led to openness to building permanent organizations run by their members. Realistic view of the contrasts and similarities between individual-membership based organizations and institution-based ones. Began at Iowa Coalition for Community Involvement; then an institution-based organization in Fresno; then Washington Innercity Self-Help; then New Jersey Housing and Community Network.
