Length of Delivery Stay, Postpartum Emergency

Description

Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the birthing experience overall. A study at Cedars-Sinai conducted in 2020 has shown that COVID-19 protocols have shortened lengths of stay for birthing parents and their infants. To our knowledge, no studies have evaluated whether decreased length of initial delivery hospitalization has been associated with a change in the number of ED visits & readmissions. We hypothesize that although the average length of stay will be shorter in January-February 2021, there will be no difference in the number of ED visits and readmissions.
