University Hall

Description

Abstract:
University Hall, on the Brown University campus, was built in 1770 as the first building of thr College. In 1776 the building served as barracks for American troops and a hospital for French soldiers. The stucco that had been placed upon the building in 1834, was removed during renovations in 1905.University Hall was designated a National Historic Landmark on May 5, 1963.
