This short essay shows how “waste”, historically and in the present, has operated as capitalism’s dialectical frontier: animating its relentless drive for profit, subtending its racial hierarchies, and through its unevenly accumulating burdens, throwing planetary ecosystems and vulnerable lives into mounting peril.
