This dissertation uses original data from Ghana to show evidence of three barriers to the productivity, growth and success of small firms. Chapter 1 explores the determinants of technology diffusion. Chapter 2 shows evidence that firms are labor constrained. Chapter 3 examines the costs of unreliability in infrastructure.
