In an effort to highlight the role of physical movement in performance of any kind, I want to write a long piece of music based on walking. The research for this piece would cover several aspects of walking, from the biological roots of gait to larger sociological concerns about walking in the public space. Research would also consist of dance experiments, and writing music in response to these research endeavors. the final result of these explorations is a score, for piano, electronics, assorted instruments and dancers, detailing both the music and the movement of the performers in space and time. This score will also be performed.
