- This article discusses the importance of teaching Fernando Pessoa's work in basic education schools and undergraduate programs in Language Studies in Rio Grande do Norte. It ana-lyzes the challenges faced by literature teachers, such as curricula that undervalue the hu-manities and the lack of time for more in-depth readings. The research revealed that many students have only superficial knowledge of Pessoa's work, highlighting the need for more accessible and engaging teaching methodologies. To illustrate this, two practical activities carried out by the Northeast Network for Literature Teaching are presented: one focused on the creation of heteronyms and another on the reading and writing of letters, emphasizing less-known texts by Pessoa. The study reinforces that literature should be understood as a space for dialogue and reflection, essential for the formation of critical and sensitive citizens, while emphasizing the teacher's role in fostering interest in reading and Pessoa's literary works.
- Este artigo discute a importância do ensino da obra de Fernando Pessoa nas escolas de edu¬cação básica e nas licenciaturas em Letras no Rio Grande do Norte, analisando os desafios enfrentados por professores de literatura, como currículos que desvalorizam as humanidades e a falta de tempo para leituras mais aprofundadas. A pesquisa revelou que muitos alunos possuem apenas conhecimentos superficiais sobre a obra de Pessoa, evidenciando a necessi¬dade de metodologias de ensino mais acessíveis e envolventes. Para exemplificar, são apre¬sentadas duas atividades práticas realizadas pela Rede Nordeste de Ensino de Literatura: uma voltada para a criação de heterônimos e outra para a leitura e produção de cartas, com foco em textos pessoanos menos conhecidos. O estudo reforça que a literatura deve ser compre¬endida como um espaço de diálogo e reflexão, essencial para a formação de cidadãos críticos e sensíveis, destacando o papel do professor em despertar o interesse pela leitura e pela lite¬ratura pessoana.
