Identification of barriers to the implementation of a patient portal in vulnerable community health center populations

Description

Abstract:
The patient portal (PP) is an online vehicle of communication between medical providers and their patient population. Current legislation calls for the implementation of PPs with associated financial incentives. Research showing potential correlations between PP use and improved overall health outcomes has prompted Federally Qualified Community Health Centers (FQHC’s) to augment PP enrollment to meet federal standards. This QI project aims to improve the rates of PP use at a FQHC by implementing an individualized training program to enroll patients and explore potential barriers.
