Virtual annual wellness exams for a low-income Latinx population: Challenges and best practices

Description

Abstract:
Virtual annual wellness exams provide convenient and efficient continuity of care; minimize COVID19 exposure; and prevent access barriers, such as transportation and lack of time. However, telemedicine may limit access to care by low-income Latinx, unless cultural, language and access barriers such as health, numeracy, and technological literacy, are addressed. This mixed methods study identifies virtual adult annual wellness exam challenges, analyzes manifest and latent themes about perceptions of virtual annuals and video visits from patient and provider interviews, and provides recommendations for an effective and accessible system for a low-income Latinx population.
