Abstract:: The author presents a personal statement about the internationalization of Portuguese historiography, by reflecting on the following issue: why, in the beginning of the 21st century, many of the leading figures from the Portuguese intellectual and historiographical world were still unknown to their peers abroad. The author highlights some notable changes in this process of internationalization, including the “rediscovery of Brazil” and the rising interest in comparative Iberian history. On the other hand, the author also lists limitations to the process, among them scanty exposure in international journals and publishers, and reduced level of international academic mobility.; O autor apresenta um testemunho pessoal sobre a internacionalização da historiografia portuguesa, reflectindo sobre o seguinte problema: porque, no começo do século XXI, muitos dos maiores nomes do mundo historiográrico e intelectual português eram ainda desconhecidos dos seus pares estrangeiros. O autor sublinha algumas notáveis mudanças nesse processo de internacionalização, incluindo a «redescoberta do Brasil» e o crescente interesse em história Ibérica comparativa. Por outro lado, listam-se limitações desse processo, entre elas uma escassa exposição a períodicos e editoras estrangeiros e um reduzido nível de mobilidade académica internacional.
