Abstract:
The authors study the aims of the commemorations of the French invasions of Portugal and, in particular, of the Battle of Buçaco in 1810. The paper posits questions about what it means to evoke the past and how doing so offers an interpretation of the present.
Os autores estudam os objetivos das comemorações das invasões francesas de Portugal e, particularmente, da Batalha do Buçaco de 1810. O ensaio postula perguntas sobre o significado de evocar o passado e como isso pode oferecer uma interpretação do presente.
