- Ph.D. Dissertations in Medieval History are well represented in Portuguese universities. The development of Masters programs from the 1980s onwards and the increasing number of Ph.D. dissertations have largely contributed to the development of new research interests and new topics of historical inquiry, especially those concerning the 14th and 15th centuries. It is difficult to have a clear picture of this research by sub-fields, and the list presented here is certainly incomplete, due to the fact that, to the date of publication, there was not in Portugal a centralized list of dissertations covering the 1975-2003 period. By listing these dissertations it is our purpose to better acquaint the reader with works that in many cases have not been published.
- As teses de doutoramento em História Medieval encontram-se bem representadas nas universidades portuguesas. O desenvolvimento de programas de mestrado a partir dos anos 1980 e o aumento do número de teses têm contribuído em grande parte para o desenvolvimento de novas linhas de pesquisa e novos tópicos de investigação histórica, especialmente com relação aos séculos XIV e XV. É difícil ter uma visão clara deste panorama por sub-campos, e a lista aqui apresentada é certamente incompleta, pelo facto de não existir em Portugal, aquando desta publicação, uma base centralizada de dissertações para o período 1975-2003. Listam-se, pois, estas teses com o propósito de familiarizar melhor o leitor com trabalhos que, em muitos casos, não foram publicados.
