The majority of medical students will participate in some form of research during their time in medical school. The goal of this project is to increase access to clinical research at Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and other undergraduate medical institutions by providing an educational reference for the world of human subjects research. This iBook is built from a series of chapters which detail key concepts in medical discovery and clinical research, such as HIPAA, study design, proposal development, and working with IRBs. By better understanding the medical research process, students can take a more active role in their scholarly pursuits during medical school and throughout their medical career.
