Racism is the Air We Breathe: Decolonizing the Clinic by Decolonizing the Lecture Hall

Description

Abstract:
Conference paper presented at RESISTANCE & DISRUPTION 8th Annual Natura Conference on Science and Epistemology, Room 6051, Academic Building West Wing, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. Medical education teaches that disease derives from the biological nature of a racial group rather than considering historical frameworks that privileged certain bodies in order to serve white supremacy. We offer a pedagogical case study outlining the resistance strategies employed by Alpert Medical School second-year students during the pulmonary system course.
