No-shows are an ever-present problem for many clinics, especially those serving low-income populations experiencing numerous barriers to care including lack of transportation. An estimated 3.6 million Americans miss appointments due to lack of transportation each year. There remains little research on both the causes of no-shows, as well as the efficacy of transportation-based no-show interventions. Our study was designed to examine the prevalence of transportation issues in no-show patients, determine the location and severity of transportation issues, and identify potential transportation-based interventions.
