How a Targeted Blood Pressure Reminder Affects Patients Across BMIs and Number of Problems At Blackstone Valley Community Health Center

Description

Abstract:
Blackstone Valley Community Health Center serves predominantly Hispanic, Black, and/or overweight patients. Increasing weight gain is correlated with increasing comorbidities including hypertension. Even with their at-risk population, providers face difficulties identifying patients with elevated BP. This intervention examined whether a) a reminder placed over exam room computer screens would increase BP rechecks and/or BP being addressed during same day clinic visits, and b) if the reminder affected BP treatment for overweight/obese and clinically complex patients.
