Description
- Abstract:
- This work looks at the influence of 6th century Latin poet, Venantius Fortunatus, on 8th century Latin poet, Alcuin, a member of the Court of Charlemagne. It offers a close reading of both authors’ poetic works and compares them in the categories of “Epithets, Shared Diction, and Themes,” “Friendship,” and “Humility.” It is the first substantive interpretation of Alcuin’s poetry in any language.
