Abstract:: O presente ensaio incide a sua atenção principal na série de artigos de junho-julho de 1922 “Para a história da colonização portuguesa”, cem anos depois de serem publicados no jornal diário anarcossindicalista A Batalha, da autoria do escritor e jornalista Mário Domingues, natural da ilha do Príncipe. Da leitura que realizo àqueles textos, e sem dispensar o estabelecimento de ligações com outros do mesmo período, é possível sustentar quatro grandes noções. A primeira é que Mário Domingues, na década de 1920 e na sua ação enquanto publicista, se encontra perfilado com a luta do movimento negro que, na conjuntura de finais do século XIX e inícios do século XX, emergiu internacionalmente e, também, em Portugal. A segunda é que proporcionou perspetivas coerentes com a “linha de cor” de Du Bois na denúncia da condição política, social e psicológica dos negros e da sua história específica associada à escravatura, ao tráfico de escravos e à colonização. A terceira diz respeito à compreensão da dominação colonial moderna como “colonização-crime”. Finalmente, foi um pioneiro da defesa do ideal da independência para África num prisma confederal.; This essay focuses on the series of articles from June-July 1922 “Para a história da colonização portuguesa” [For the history of Portuguese colonization], one hundred years after their publication in the anarcho-syndicalist daily newspaper A Batalha, authored by the writer and journalist Mário Domingues, born on the island of Príncipe. Those texts allow the reading―and without dismissing the establishment of connections with others from the same period―from which it is possible to sustain four major notions. The first is that Mário Domingues, in the 1920s and his action as a publicist, is profiled with the struggle of the black movement that, in the scope of the late 19th century and early 20th century, emerged internationally and in Portugal. The second is that it provided perspectives consistent with Du Bois’ “color line” in denouncing the political, social, and psychological condition of the black people and their specific history associated with slavery, slave trade and colonization. The third concerns the understanding of modern colonial domination as “colonization-crime.” Finally, he was a pioneer in advocating the ideal of independence for Africa in a confederal conception.
