Abstract:: "Only In Queens" begins "The first thing to know about Mets fans is that most of us are insane." From there, it's all downhill. But why are Mets fans insane, exactly? Why do they dread hearing Luís Ayala's name, but swoon at the mention of Valentino Pascucci? Why can't they look at Huey Lewis and the News the same way anymore? Is it healthy for Pedro Beato's 18-inning scoreless streak in 2011 to play a major role in their development? James Schapiro will tell you — if he can stand it.
